Hello I’m LiTedra

I’m a third-generation cosmetologist and a licensed curl specialist with over 28 years of experience in Florida and licensure in Georgia as well. My journey with natural hair began in 1995—starting with my own.

At that time, I had just removed chemical treatments from my hair for the first time since I was five years old. Yep—age 5! That should give you an idea of the kind of hair my family thought I had—or maybe just how much I disliked getting it combed. Either way, I completely understand the struggle.

In 1995, I made a personal commitment to discover who I really was—and yes, I meant what I was, too. Growing up, any conversation about my hair was often followed by head-shaking, horror stories, and the unspoken message that something about me needed to be fixed. Those moments left me feeling less than and questioning why I was created the way I was.

That year, I decided to face her—the version of me I had hidden—and love her fully.

That journey began with a big chop, a deep desire for health inside and out, and a promise to embrace myself—curls and all. I started eating healthier, living more consciously, and learning how to care for the hair that I only saw curl when it was soaking wet.

Since then, I’ve lived it all:

  • Two sets of locs
  • One set of sister locs
  • Three big chops
  • Two beautiful kids
  • And yes, a couple of returns to the “creamy crack” (no judgment zone!)

But today, I’m here with healthy, hydrated hair—and a heart full of passion to help you reach that place too.

This work is not just my career—it’s my calling. I’m here to help you love your hair, love yourself, and embrace your natural beauty from the inside out.

I persisted through the lack of products for naturals and the challenge of way too many random products that could make an encyclopedia set.

While transitioning hundreds of women from relaxer to natural, and mastering “The Silk Press” before it became that in the Pensacola area, my sister April (also a natural/curl specialist), found I am Black Girls Curl/Cut It Kinky.

In the beginning of 2019 I embarked on completing a 6 weeks intensive course, flying to Chicago twice and Memphis once, all before Covid-19. Once we resumed back into the salon after being shut down for 3 months I have focused exclusively on safely providing, guiding and coaching over 300 curly/kinky hair services to natural woman in Pensacola and surrounding areas.

I can say I am ready, ready for what? Ready to help change the narrative of how Black women around the world experience their hair, by unlearning and relearning basic hair care practices

Hello I’m April Kyles

April is a third-generation professional hairstylist with over 20 years of hands-on experience, research, and dedication to the art of natural hair. Her journey began early—at just 14 years old, she worked as an assistant to her sister, Unity Salon’s founder, LiTedra. While attending school during the day, she spent her afternoons in the salon learning the craft firsthand and building the strong foundation she stands on today.

She continued to develop her skills throughout high school and eventually became a licensed barber, expanding her expertise and deepening her commitment to serving clients with excellence.

April’s personal natural hair journey fueled a desire to learn more—not just about hair, but about how to support clients in embracing every facet of their texture with confidence. Over the years, she has completed a wide range of professional trainings focused on cutting, styling, and maintaining healthy curls and coils.

Her love for natural hair spans across all textures and styles—from silk presses and twist sets to curly cuts and Wash & Go coaching. April’s work is rooted in knowledge, skill, and a deep care for helping clients feel confident, beautiful, and seen in their natural state.
